Pinkie check in from California

Good Morning,

It is two years today since I flew to Pasco to meet you and pick up Pinkie
Murphy.  She continues to be a wonderful, happy girl.  I have gotten pretty
good at stripping her fur however do take her to Napa for a real expert
stripping about every three months.  All is well here and believe it or not
I still have Lulu (she will be 18 years old on 10/6/13).  She was having
kidney failure and my vet has her taking  1/2 capsule of calcium   acetate
(human medicine) and some Chinese herbs.  She is doing much better and is
very frail - lots of carrying her up and down stairs.  She plays a little
with Pinkie and Pinkie is very protective of her and when I look for her for
dinner I ask Pinkie "Where is Lulu" and she leads me right to her.  I told
Lulu when I was growing up my mother said the girls in my family (6 girls)
were not allowed to leave home until they were 18 and then only to go to
college.  So I guess Lulu listened when she was a pup and when she is gone I
am going to pretend she has gone to college!

Pinkie is still the delight of her doggie plan group.  She is picked up
twice a week in a wonderful van with the company name - Dog Play Dog with a
big dog logo by a sweet older man named Nick  and she is standing by the
gate ready to go - leaves at ten and returns at 2:30 - if I am not home he
puts in the side gate (he has a key ) and she goes into the house from her
dog door on the back porch.

II am still working part time - I take Pinkie to the complex I manage and
the tenants love her.  I even take her to lease negotiating meetings and she
sits  in a chair and listens.  A couple of weeks ago when I was having a
serious discussion regarding lease terms with large microwave defense
contractor she put her paws and the edge of the conference room table as if
to say - "We need to come to a meeting of the minds here".

As you can see I love her very much and she has so enriched my life..  I
continue to thank God that you let me have her.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Lucy candid.

Finally Lucy is old enough to pose confidently... well semi confidently for a few pictures with flash. It was not the best day for Lucy as today started out with a bath for dander which she was exceptional for in being so calm, then it was time for wormer as a "just in case" because she was so plump but I guess it was all thanks to her healthy eating habits which she now shares her meals with the older Westie boys as eating alone isnt very fun...

Prett cute huh?

Bart Moves to Portland

The top picture was Bart at about 12 weeks old and then 5 1/2 years later today.

Hello Chris, Thought of you this past winter when we attended a dog show in the

Rose Quarter of Portland. We recently moved to the Portland area and Bart seems

to approve. He loves all of the trails and dog friendly places Portland has to offer.

We recently added another member to our family: our first grand baby. Bart is

quietly curious and will sit and watch her with an intense sense of awe. Hope

your group is still thriving. Best, The Pierces

They can turn one against another too!

Haleys boys at 4.5 weeks old and the flea is the referee. That would be big boy on top of little boy but things are starting to turn around.

Some make friends more easily than others...

The is Rachels girl and 3.5 weeks old. Hard to see in all that black.. and tan but unaware that fleas can attack at any moment.

Dont let this happen to you..

Fleas can appear anytime anywhere.... This is Emily's litter of 2 boys and a girl on the far right. 19 days old.

Emily's puppies at 2 weeks of age

Not a whole lot going on here yet but Emily is a little primal and a blanket hog but there is a heating pad below to keep everone toasty..

First taste of the real thing.

Later they would be members of the clean plate club.. Haley's boys are 4 weeks old and getting very playful and mobile, its a great stage to have them at.

Little better picture of Emily and her puppies.

Though still not a great hair day the first night was a quiet one and you can better see Emily's 3 puppies. As the days go by they will fatten up and become the little cute Polar bears you are more familour with.

Teaching for the Walla Walla Kennel Club

I would like to thank Debbie Sutor, President of the Walla Walla Kennel Club for the opportunity to teach handling class to there 4H students and Kennel Club members Saturday. We had a great time with dogs big and small teaching them everything I know about the professional presentation of dogs on conformation.

There were about 15 participants eager to learn or re-learn what they may be a little rusty at and were very thankful for my assistence.

Emily has her first litter, 2 boys and a girl!

Emily is also a little primal. She wanted nothing to do with the comfort of a towel beneither her or her puppies. Yes, she looks a little ruff but who wouldnt as this was her first litter, all natural birth and the big plus is the sire of this litter is Jack, my stud dog.

Rachel's girl is just shy of a week old.

Rachel keeps a sharp eye on her girl making sure there are no strange hands going in to weigh much less touch her girl. She only goes out when absolutly nessesary and demands to be let back in right away. As you can see Rachel is a blanket hog and no matter how hard I try to get it strait she has other ideas. Don't worry its heated below the mat which keeps her little girl nice and warm!

Haley's boys at 3 weeks old.

Eyes open and starting to get curious about this new world... Very cute little Polar Bears dont you think?
