My new toy.... and our association meeting.

Today was the debut of my new toy... Yesterday I bought a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 which came with plenty of extra's. An extra brand new front and rear tire on rims and two helmets. The seller of this motorcycle also had a full set of leathers and a motorcycle stand which I purchased at a very reasonable price. Today I got all dressed for safety and the early spring weather to ride down to our work sponsored association meeting. I think I surprised a number of my co-workers showing up in full leather as most believe me to be pretty conservative. It was pretty fun but a little nerve racking as I don't have a ton of experience riding one of the most powerful and heaviest motorcycles in production.

As I mentioned today was our work sponsored association meeting. Every two months we are allowed to have a meeting to discuss work related issues. I took it upon myself with some help from a few co-workers to organize a meeting at a local restaurant and invite a guest speaker to talk about Hanford traffic issues and upcoming resolutions. As you can see we had a really good turn out to include my car pooler Pat and his new baby Cloe. I have also included a really nice picture of one of my other co-workers holding Cloe so Pat and his wife Janis could eat there lunch.

Now we wait....

Dixie's final breeding has been done today. 62 days from her ovulation date(Feburary 18th) would give her a due date of April 21st +/- a day or so. 30 days after her ovulation she could have a pregnancy test done by a blood draw and should be able to be read 15 minutes later.

More on Dixie...

Good News. Dixie's progesterone number came back from Monday's test at a 5.4 which means she should ovulate Wednesday. She will be bred again tomorrow and Friday then be ready to go back to Elina, her owner.

There are a number of interested parties in this breeding and we are all excited to see what happens.. Hopefully a batch these...

Dixie goes to the vet office...

Today Dixie whom I co-own with Elina Durchman goes to the vet for a smear and a progesterone test. I received a call from Jill Roarke(Chance the stud dogs owner) explaining Dixie was fully cornified and her vet thought they should go ahead and inseminate her. So this afternoon they will do that but before they will take her blood sample to check her progesterone levels to see where she is in her cycle, those results should be available tomorrow. According to Elina today Dixie should be at day 10... I sure hope she becomes pregnant as I am really on a skid as far as breeding her gone in the last number of months.

White Diamond Terriers

I have heard many things about blogging so I thought I would try it and see what happens. My name is Chris Larson. I am almost 44 years old now and work for a subcontractor for the US Government but that's pretty boring stuff. This is me at work...

What I will dedicate most of my time to is my second career, handling and breeding West Highland White and Norwich Terriers in the Northwest.

Yesterday I attended our clubs annual play day over on the western side of the mountains and met some really nice people with alot of Norwich Terriers. The dogs had plenty of time to run around loose in a controlled enviroment and socialize. Later in the afternoon there were a few games including a race where you hold your dogs leash in one hand while holding an egg in a spoon with the other and run from one end of a room to the other, it was fun to watch.... The second event was also a race but it was for the dogs. You had to place baby socks on your dogs paws and while one person held the dog at the start there was another person at the other end of the room to call them over. The first dog to cross the room with the most socks on won. This was a very popular event. My boy Alec was able to take second place over all coming to me first but with only two socks remaining on his paws....

As I have just started my blog I will be working to add more pictures and hope to get some video in there as well if it's allowed.
